Freedom Is the Currency of Love

“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.”

– Galatians 5:13

I want you to consider this concept that I have shared with you before: Freedom is the currency of love. I have found that the more love you have in your life, the less freedom you will have. People respond to this in two ways: First, some people resent it. Some men or women will be annoyed when their spouse says, “Please come home by 5:30 because I want to see you, and I want to be with you.”

In contrast, some people will respond by saying, “Isn’t it great to know there’s someone out there who needs me and wants to spend time with me?” There is freedom that comes from realizing that you have been given a gift: There are people in your life who you love, and they love you back! They want the best for you — and for them — so that your relationship can thrive. Taking time to show love is truly a gift and a blessing!

Friend, it’s interesting how the people you surround yourself with will impact you in many ways. Your success in life will be determined by these influences. If you are a parent, you already know that this is true for your children. Many parents would agree that they don’t want to be overbearing, but there is sometimes a need to manage who their children’s friends are, right? There is nothing better than knowing your children have friends who will positively influence them. Our Father God cares for us in the same way. Always remember that freedom is the currency of love, and ask the Holy Spirit to help you have the right influences in your life!

Prayer

Father, show me how to get the right influences in my life.
