“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” -1 Peter 5:6-7
When you focus on your future, know that your future is good. Your future is fantastic if your future is with Jesus.
Jerry Seinfeld, in one of his standup routines, talks about night-guy and morning-guy. Night-guy is the one who stays up late and eats ice cream. He says, “I’ll let morning-guy deal with that.” And then morning-guy wakes up and he says, “Oh, night-guy.” Morning-guy inevitably has to pay for night-guy’s mistakes.
There is much truth in that scenario. Very often in your present right now, you may find yourself feeling depressed, down, out of options, and you don’t know what you’re going to do. But, don’t ruin it for the guy that comes tomorrow. Your future is good, and there’s no way you’ll be able to experience that future if you give up your today. Believe that tomorrow God has great things for you. Your future is bright if your future is in Christ.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, with you by my side, my every tomorrow will be blessed by your love and care. Amen.
REFLECTION: Describe how it feels to let go of your worries about tomorrow as you lean into God’s perfect plan.
