“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”

– John 15:16

As a result of our love and enthusiasm for God, we have all made promises to Him in our hearts. You looked in the mirror one day and told yourself and God who you would become, where you would go, and what you would achieve. The good news is that you are still alive and there is still time to fulfill each of those promises. It’s good to reaffirm those affirmations you told yourself as you looked in the mirror! Over twenty years ago, I made a vow to God because I started noticing many young pastors were getting into drugs and losing their faith, or just getting weird, and I cried out to God in my disappointment — “God, I will never turn my back on you.” My heart was tattooed with that and as of today, it remains there and drives me every day of my life. As I stood before a beautiful young woman named Hannah Presley, I promised I would love her for the rest of my life. My vow was sincere and I have kept it. Our vows and promises can be kept with the help of the Holy Spirit!

Friend, you didn’t choose God, but God chose you. The dream wasn’t yours to choose; it was ordained for you. It is possible for you to turn your back on God or your dream, but don’t do it. Be worthy of your calling and your choices. Embrace responsibility and prove that God was right when He pointed at you and said you are the one to successfully fulfill the dream. You are worthy of it and capable of fulfilling it. Be in agreement with God about your future and about yourself.

Prayer

Father, thank you for choosing and loving me.

  1. After attending the funeral of a woman from the church I had been attending all my life but had started to drift away, I felt reinspired to get back into reading the bible again. This woman was the perfect example of someone who lived a christlike life, was not judgemental, but served and loved with all her heart. She was truly a wonderful, graceful woman whom I will try from now on to emulate. This message was just what I needed to hear and will help me in my journey to better serve others and be the person God chose me to be. I am truly grateful to Pastor Bobby and Hannah for loving and accepting everyone and who helped inspire me to read and study the bible like the church I grew up in did not do.
