God is Not Insecure

“He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.”

– Deuteronomy 32:4

The French author Voltaire, who was pretty much the leader of the Enlightenment, once asserted that human beings define God based on their own fears and insecurities. To make it applicable to our lives as Christians, we might say that we tend to believe that the Lord has the same issues we do and is thus more of a judge than a father. If you’ve ever heard the saying that where you find the most fault in others, you find your own greatest struggle, the same is true with your view of God. However, I want to assure you today that your Heavenly Father is not insecure. Though you may deal with temptations and rogue thoughts, He embraces all of your weaknesses without judgement or condemnation because He understands what it’s like to be human. He is holy and righteous, yet He was tempted in every way you are and remained sinless. This makes Him rock-solid and secure, which is especially important to remember in times like the ones we’re currently experiencing. With so much unknown and so many questions, it’s helpful to remind yourself that Jesus is completely steady and that He can take it!

My friend, your Savior welcomes your honest cries and heartfelt pain. He has the whole world in His hands and He can handle every one of your doubts, fears, and uncertainties. God never changes; His nature is gentle and humble and His essence is unadulterated love. In fact, that love is His banner over you and it is the basis for every interaction you share. In tough times, pour your heart out to Jesus, allow His Spirit to comfort you, and lift your voice to Him until your protest becomes praise.

Prayer

Thank you, Jesus, for being the solid Rock to whom I can voice all of my doubts, fears, and protests.

Reflection

What’s on your heart today that you need to cry out to God about?
