“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
– 2 Peter 3:9
![]() I’m passionate about history, and one of my favorite periods to study is the Bronze Age, which is when most of the Old Testament took place. Back then, armies were huge — often made up of hundreds of thousands of soldiers — and because they were equipped with a lot of weaponry and manpower, they traveled at a snail’s pace. It would take months for them to move from place to place because hundreds of chariots, livestock, water carriers, and other equipment accompanied them. And though they couldn’t get anywhere fast, when they finally reached their destination, they were a force to be reckoned with. I actually think this is a great analogy for how the Lord shows up in our lives. From our perspective, He takes His time, and it can seem like our battle is going to last interminably. Many of us have prayed and sought deliverance for years, and it looks as if nothing has changed. To those who are feeling this way, I want to say that the God of angel armies has already been dispatched, and He is on His way to intervene in your situation with all the forces of Heaven. His troops are moving to reveal breakthroughs, and the most important thing you can do is hold on to hope. He knows what you’re enduring, and He is coming to your aid with a unique, divinely-orchestrated victory strategy! My friend, when you’re feeling downcast and you’ve prayed to Jesus for help, His answer is already on its way. Though you may not see evidence of movement in your struggle, His might and power have been released, and He will arrive on the scene at just the right time. The Lord is never too early and never too late, and in His economy, it’s as good as done. All the power of the universe is at His command, and He is working through divine intervention to bring you to a place of triumph! |
Prayer
Jesus, thank you that you’ve already won the battle I’m embroiled in. I trust you to manifest victory in your perfect time.
Reflection
As you await deliverance from your struggles, how can you actively anticipate the Lord’s aid?
