The covenant makes two core promises. First: I will be your God, and you will be my people. This means no other idols — God alone. And to be His people means obeying His commands, a standard made explicit through Moses. Second: you will be blessed, and you will be a blessing to the nations. As we often say in church—blessed to be a blessing. Called to be a light, a catalyst of change in the world.

For the heirs of Abraham, that blessing is tangible: land, provision, children, legacy—and purpose. God’s promise was to bless His obedient people so they could be a blessing to the nations. This theme runs throughout Scripture, but one of the most powerful passages is Deuteronomy 28. “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on the earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.” 

My friend, not some blessings— all. This is in the Bible: “You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, the crops of your land, your livestock, your herds, your flocks.” The promise hasn’t changed. The same God who made a covenant with Abraham is making one with you. The question is the same too: will you obey? Because the blessing was never about comfort—it was always about purpose. You are blessed to be a blessing. That is the call. That is the covenant.
