God’s View of Relationships

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”

– John 13:34

Today, I have a key question: In our desire to build and achieve, how often do we sacrifice those relationships that are truly important to us for the sake of accomplishment? A balance in our lives as achievers is one of the most important components of a successful life. Of course, the balance should always be tipped in the direction of the people you love. This juggling act can be challenging as you strive to accomplish something great in your life.

This is why understanding God’s view of relationships is so important, as well as how we connect deeply with people. This is the greatest treasure we have in our lives! Let’s recognize that growing in our relationships will cost us something, but the rewards are far greater! Be prepared to invest your time, talents, and perhaps even your money, as well as a Godly attitude that reflects Jesus’ love! When I was a kid, I had a dog named Mya Puppers Schuller, and she became my best friend. I thought she was so cute, but I was oblivious to the amount of responsibility I had just undertaken. When I wanted to play video games, she wanted to take a walk, eat, or for me to pet her!

Friend, there were times when I didn’t want the responsibility that came along with having a dog, but of course it was worth it each time she was so happy to see me! Realize that investing in relationships is worth the price. God desires some of your time as well as you bring balance to your life. Continue to pray, read your Bible, and be in fellowship with other believers. These three investments will serve as a foundation that strengthens all the other relationships in your life.

Father, help me to love and understand others from your perspective.

Is there a balance between your achievements and the relationships you have with your loved ones?
