“I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, Sovereign Lord; I will proclaim your righteous deeds, yours alone.”

– Psalm 71:16

I believe in the Sovereignty of God and it gives me hope. But sometimes that sovereignty can sound like a negative thing, as if because God is God, He can do bad things to people. That’s not what it means at all. Sovereignty means that God’s will at work in your life is for your benefit, even though your shortsightedness may keep you from seeing and understanding.

For example, I take my son Cohen to Disneyland all the time. He loves Disneyland and he especially loves Buzz Lightyear. When we go, we get in line and although the entrance is right there, we have to move slowly away from it to ultimately get on the ride. He’s too young to understand this, so I promise him over and over again that we’ll get there, but we have to go a longer way. What seems to him like us walking away from the goal is actually me getting him closer to where we need to be. The Sovereignty of God is like this. He is our Father. He’s powerful, He’s omnipotent, He’s omniscient and omnipresent. He’s all these things, but He’s still your Dad. He loves you more than you love yourself and He’s more interested in your life than you are. Everything He’s doing is for your good!

Prayer

Lord, thank you for being a good Father. I trust your sovereignty and I believe that you cause all things to work together for my good.

The areas of my life trying to find it kind of difficulty in GOD’s sovereignty from trying to do everything with & without assistance with housework to having all financial bills & obligations to be paid in full this year! The promises from GOD’s WORD that I stand on is Psalms 91, Phillippians 4:13 Genesis 3, 2 Corinthians 9:8, Psalms 107:20, Psalms 23, & Proverbs 3:5 as well on a daily basis!
