“His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.”
– 2 Peter 1:3,4
![]() As we conclude our discussion about embracing a journey to spiritual and emotional healing, I want to leave us with one practical thing we can do as we wait — stand on God’s promises. I know this sounds trite, but before tuning it out, it’s important to chew on the fact that the Word of God is alive. It’s not just a book that we read chapter and verse (though we certainly should do that), it’s the power of the Living Lord to accomplish His purposes on the earth. And because the devil doesn’t want us to believe this truth, He is constantly trying to steal its potency by convincing us otherwise. Nevertheless, I encourage us to find Scriptural insights that apply to our situation, commit them to memory, and say them out loud. Romans 10:17 says that “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” In other words, if we want to cultivate hope and trust in the goodness of the Lord, we should not only read His Book, but proclaim it and exclaim it. When we speak the non-negotiable, unshakable, and already-settled promises of our Savior, we are built up, rooted, and strengthened, and Satan is kicked out. Whatever it is we need to work through on our journey, claiming divine truth is the key to victory. My friend, faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. In other words, if it’s already visible, it doesn’t require faith. As you embrace your journey to wholeness, hold on to the hope that comes from trusting in something yet to be revealed, and you’ll get to where you want to be. Nothing fuels future victory like standing on the promises of God, so plant His Word in your heart, water it through recitation, and watch Him move mountains to bring forth His best in your life! |
Prayer
Jesus, I will stand on your promises, and when the devil tells me I’m defeated, I’ll declare your victorious Word out loud!
Reflection
As you search the Scriptures, what two promises can you find that apply to a situation you’re facing right now? Will you commit to memorizing them and declaring them out loud?
