Growing in Your Ability to Serve

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach;“

– Romans 12:6-8

Our goal in any relationship is to grow as someone who has the ability to serve through our gifts and talents. During this series, we will focus on the Holy Spirit. I believe the Holy Spirit’s purpose is to help Christians achieve more than they thought possible, and to help them see and feel the world as God does. The power that God gives to us should be used to make a difference or to serve. Serve, not because you think you “ought to serve” or you’re bound by some moral code to serve, but in a way that makes an impact. Service of this kind makes all the difference in someone’s life. A person’s life can be turned around simply by the service you provide, and they’ll look back and say their life changed for the better that day.

I want to participate in life-changing service to others. How about you? That’s an awesome thing to do in life and that’s what the Lord desires from you. When you think about a life of purpose, what this really means is a life that makes an impact. The only people who make an impact are those who provide a vast quantity and quality of service to others.

Friend, Godly service encapsulates the purpose of everything we do. It is in the quality and quantity of your service that the impact is felt and that is where the meaning lies. God has called us to serve, whether it’s art, leadership, business, friends and family, or organizing our ministry. At the end of the day, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the quality and quantity of your service will make all the difference!

Prayer

Father, help me be impactful in my service to others.
