“Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
-1 Peter 4:9-10
Sharing Jesus with others is like being hospitable, inviting someone to be in your spiritual home. But, here’s the thing – many of us think, “I don’t have anything to offer. All I have is Gatorade and Ritz crackers.” See, that’s what’s great. It doesn’t matter whether you have a three hundred-year-old Bordeaux or a bottle of Gatorade. Whatever it is you have, you can share it with the world.
That’s the thing that we forget. Very often, we think that unless we’ve gone to Bible school, or unless we’ve been a Christian for many years, or unless we’re doing everything perfectly, we don’t really have anything to offer a world that is seeking. That is the biggest lie in the world!
You have such a meaningful future if you can embrace the idea that God wants to use you to make a difference in the lives of your neighbors. It is such an amazing feeling to know that, in some way, you made a difference in a person’s life by simply having a bit of courage and trusting that the Holy Spirit would give you the words and the things that you need to make a difference. I promise you, if you invite someone to faith, and he or she responds and comes to faith, you will have one of the happiest days in your whole life.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, though I feel unprepared, I know you will give me the words and show me the way to draw others toward a relationship with you. Amen.
REFLECTION: How have you shown hospitality or God’s love to others?
