“Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.” -Isaiah 61:7
The number one word that best describes shame is hiddenness. Shame is the part of our life that we are terrified to allow people to see. We tell ourselves, “If people only knew this about me, they would reject me.” Shame is the hidden part of our life — the number one thing that gets in the way of us and connecting deeply with others. But luckily, the Bible tells us that Jesus came not only to remove us of our sin, but also to remove us of our shame.
PRAYER: Thank you, God, for Jesus. Thank you for removing our shame. We are loved by you. We can be vulnerable and connect with others.
REFLECTION: Do you have some shame you’re holding onto?
