You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

1 John 4:4

We teach morals because God’s love is where the power to be a good person comes from. It doesn’t come from trying harder. It comes from having the confidence that even when I mess up, even when people put me down, even when people reject me or say things about me, I can just let it go because I belong to the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, the Master of the Universe. I am His beloved. And so are you. You’re His beloved and He’ll never let you go. Isn’t that good news?

Because of you, God, I am a good person. I belong to you. Thank you.
