“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”

– Psalm 139:7-10

Yesterday, I shared one of my most memorable Rancho Capistrano stories, and today, I’m reminded of another one. On a different Friday, when I was at the ranch praying and communing with Jesus, Pastor Russ Jacobson needed to reach me. However, as is often the case when I’m seeking solitude, my phone was off. Since he couldn’t text me or call me, he used a feature that Apple offers called “Find My Friends,” which enabled him to see my location. Once he realized where I was, he got in his car and headed over to find me. In a rather strange manner, as I was walking along in a remote area, he appeared from a grove of orange trees waving a piece of paper that I needed to sign that day. Though it was startling at first, I was impressed because of the lengths he went to to get the job done, despite it being an inconvenience for him. It also reminded me of a powerful truth about God. You see, as alone as we sometimes feel, there is absolutely no place on earth we can go where He is not. We may try to run from Him, “turn off” His Spirit’s voice, or feel like we’ve strayed too far for Him to find us, but He will always track us down. He loves us so much that He can’t bear to leave us, and He wants to help us navigate the rocky, unknown, and complex pathways of life.

My friend, your Savior has found you, and He will never let you go. You’ve been brought into the fold of the family of God, and He watches over your coming and going as He lovingly protects, provides, and cares for you. No matter how lost or alone you feel, He is with you, and His arm is outstretched to help. When you extend your heart to Him and allow Him to lift you up, He will take your hand and lead you to paths of righteousness and abundant blessing, for His Name’s sake. You are precious in His sight, and He will be present with you every minute of every day for the rest of eternity.

Prayer

Jesus, help me to live in the powerful truth that you are always with me, no matter where I go.

Reflection

Wherever you find yourself today, do you believe that God’s eye is on you? If you don’t feel Him near, take a moment and ask Him to reveal Himself.
