“He made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.”
– Ephesians 1:9,10
![]() Did you know God’s plan for the world is: “On earth as it is in Heaven,” and that He chose you to be a part of it? If you grew up Christian, you’ve probably prayed that well-known prayer a million times. Matthew 6:10 states: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” When you think of Heaven, do you think of sick, angry, or mean people not belonging? Of course not. Eternal life is not just living forever; it’s the quality of God’s life here and now. It’s the life where God is moving for you, even if you’re in prison or a place of challenge. God looked forward to the day you were born, so even if your situation looks bleak right now, trust God’s timing because you are chosen! God breaks chains, opens jail cells, and heals bodies. Do you know a better way to pray this portion of the Lord’s prayer? Think in my city as it is in Heaven. In my family as it is in Heaven. In my car, towards my neighbor, and towards my colleagues as it is in Heaven. These are good things! Friend, the good news is that God knows you and loves you! We can incorporate His plan through prayer, whatever the need is: “On earth as it is in Heaven.” Even though things aren’t perfect, we can trust Him. And He’s very interested in each and every one of us. Isn’t that good news? |
Prayer
I thank you Father that you know me and love me. Help me to pray “On earth as it is in Heaven.”
Reflection
