“By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life.”
– Psalm 42:8
![]() Do you ever feel like you’re stuck in a hamster wheel? As you go through life in this fast-paced world, it’s easy to wonder if the work you do really matters and if you are truly having an impact. With your nose to the grindstone, you may get caught in the trap of just trying to survive the demands of the day-to-day. As you attempt to do all the right things and to be a good and responsible person, the weeks run together and you begin to feel discouraged. When the months become a blur and it’s hard to distinguish today from the day before, my advice to you can be summed up in this: Slow down and be faithful to what God has called you to. Friend, there is significance in your daily routine, but you have to take the time to appreciate it. The Lord doesn’t make mistakes and every season in your life has a purpose, even if it is unclear to you. I encourage you to embrace the beauty of the sameness and develop patience in the patterns. Be grateful for the small things like the ability to get out of bed, the provision made by your job, and the blessings of your friends and family. When you do, I promise you that things will look different. Even in humdrum, there are milestones and moments worth celebrating; you must simply slow down and take the time to find them. |
Prayer
Jesus, give me eyes to see the purpose in my patterns and to find your hope in the humdrum.
