How You Choose To Respond

“We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.”

– 1 Corinthians 2:6

Keep in mind that life will throw you many challenges. As you grow stronger and your dreams grow bigger, you will be faced with even more trials. However, I also believe that God has put something inside of you. It’s here that God has placed something amazing, and for a good reason. You have a miracle, a power, a life, and the Holy Spirit that will help you overcome your obstacles! A profound truth is that no one can take away your choice of how to respond to life’s trials and blessings.

Dr. Viktor E. Frankl, who suffered in the Holocaust, taught this amazing principle, “The one thing you can’t take away from me is the way I choose to respond to what you do to me. The last of one’s freedoms is to choose one’s attitude in any given circumstance.” You may be going through a tough time due to a health crisis, financial setback, betrayal, lawsuit, or something else. I understand you didn’t choose these circumstances, but you still have a choice. You have a choice to fight, and you have a decision to make about how you choose to respond.

Friend, the example of Joseph that we’ve been discussing the past few days should continue to inspire us. As God transitioned him from a slave to a ruler during his twenty years of suffering, he never lost his character. I’m not sure how he did it, but he never lost his spirit and always chose what was right in God’s eyes. My opinion is that Joseph’s dream was the best gift he ever received. As you build your dream, I encourage you to choose to respond in a way that glorifies God!

Father, help me to respond to challenges with a godly attitude.
