“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”
– Ephesians 4:2
A lot of times we’re living these secret lives — hiding certain aspects of ourselves — because we are afraid we’ll lose respect from people. Although that might be true for some people, for most, the opposite will actually happen. Your loved ones will appreciate that you’re showing them your heart, and they’ll probably show you theirs, too. There is an incredible power that comes from living from a place of humility. Humility is strong. Very often, we think to be a humble person means to be self-deprecating, to say bad things about yourself, to never talk, and to not be ambitious. But that’s not what being humble means. Humility and shame are opposites. Shame causes you to hide things in your life, while humility causes you to be vulnerable and to lift other people up. I think I rather be humble, what about you? |
Prayer
Dear Lord, give me the courage to be humble. I want to vulnerable and to show my heart to others.
