“This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus…” -1 Timothy 2:3-5
Christ’s Great Commission is “Therefore, go into all the world making disciples, teaching them to obey everything I’ve commanded you, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.”
It’s a famous passage, and one thing that’s interesting about this passage is in its language. Here’s a little Greek; are you ready? An aorist passive participle means that you could actually translate that word, “go,” as “having gone” or “as you go.” In other words, the emphasis on the Great Commission is not as much about going as it is about going into life and, in your world, making disciples everywhere you go.
What Christ is saying is, as you go through life, in everything you say and do, make disciples. Bring people to Christ through your love, words, and kind deeds.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, as I go out into my daily life, into the world immediately around me, to all I meet, may I lovingly witness about who you are and how you can save us all. Amen.
REFLECTION: How do you share your story about Christ in your life?
