“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
– John 14:27
![]() Jesus also gives and gives and gives. He gave everything, including His life. If we want to be like Jesus, we have to become generous people. We have to give. Everyone has something to give. And when we give … the more we give, our life switches from a violent posture towards this world to an open one. Imagine you’re just holding onto something: your money, your time, your car, or your house. You’re holding onto these things, and you’re making fists with your hands like you’re holding back the world. And when you’re making fists, you can’t receive anything. You can’t give anything, and you can’t receive. But when you give, your hands open. It’s like your whole body and your soul open, not only to give away, but to also do what? To receive. And to bless, to embrace, and to give. It’s all the same posture, and that’s what happens in the soul. |
Prayer
Thank you, Jesus, for your giving posture. Enable me to live with open hands and unclenched fists.
Reflection
How can you live with open hands?
