“So we urged Titus, just as he had earlier made a beginning, to bring also to completion this act of grace on your part.”

2 Corinthians 8:6

Today, I would like to share with you a little hack that I have found to be really helpful when I am trying to get started on something I’ve been putting off. I think we can all relate to staring at a blank computer screen and not being able to type that first word. Perhaps you need to make a sales call, but you can’t get yourself to do it. Maybe you are single and you want to introduce yourself to someone, but you find it difficult to make the first move. Despite the many dreams and goals we have, we cannot bring ourselves to act on them. It is easy to tell ourselves that we’ll do it tomorrow or at a later time.

The key is to tell yourself this: I can’t fail. How true is that? It’s not true, you can fail. But this is a little hack that I’ve found to be effective! Often, the reason we don’t do the work is due to a lingering fear. A fear of what it will be like to be in the gym or to be rejected. Whenever you say to yourself, “I cannot fail,” it works like clockwork. The key is to start!

Friend, a small win can sometimes be all you need. You say you need to lose weight, so you have to run ten miles. No, don’t begin with ten miles! Let your dog join you on a walk around the neighborhood and meet your neighbor along the way. Get started by taking small steps! Taking baby steps will prepare you and build into your life the type of person who trusts God with your future, and is ready for life’s opportunities.

Prayer

Father, prepare me for opportunities by showing me the small steps to take.

  2. Oh yes. Most definitely. There are some small steps that I can take toward reaching my weight loss goals. For example, cutting back on eating dessert, measuring out one cup of popcorn, and riding my stationary bike every morning, starting out slow and than increasing the minutes.I want to start the beginning of the new year, And than hopefully by next spring or summer, My weight will be down to healthier levels. That way,I will decrease my chances of getting type two diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, and osteoporosis, and cancer. My hair would be thicker, and my skin would be glowing. To all at Shepherd’s Grove at Irvine Presbyterian Church,Wishes for a Blessed Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.To the Schuller family,I pray that God will shower his abundant blessings such as happiness and good health down on them.To the musicians and choir and their directors, messages of appreciation and thanks for the glorious and uplifting music and singing. As always I remain a faithful and loyal viewer, and a Happy and Wholesome Student in Jesus Christ.May God bless all, and this beautiful country. The United States of America

  3. Thank you Bobby S. for the uplifting messages and wonderful services for the past 20 or more years! Some of those years were with your Grandpa and a few with Sheila! When I reached out yesterday and was very disappointed in just 3 scriptures and not one word of thanks for your eagle partnership all these years I learned a lot! I will be turning to Max Lucado next year and donating to him! I do not have a car and therefore I attend church online! God loves you Bobby and I wish you and Hannah all the best! Sincerely Beth Ralston

  4. Good morning, I so look forward to the daily messages. It’s the first thing I do when I get up. Then I forward it to my beautiful wife. We have been going through some really rough times and have been praying and asking GOD to please tell us what to do next. And he really does talk to us through these messages. We were supposed to stay in a rental until the 1st of the new year and we were getting anxious to leave , we said let’s just leave tomorrow. Well that next morning I opened to the daily message and it said , “ stick to your plan “ , in which we said ok GOD we’ll stay until the 1st.
Thank You pastor Bobby and GOD BLESS You and your family.

  5. Looking at it that way to get started, I never felt very confident, really till I got to have a faith but feel like I’ve not achieved much in my own life. I wanted to play the trumpet but never got there, I’ve never had a driving licence but I’m sure the father will help me better with my confidence amen

  6. I was wondering why Jesus temple in heaven is deep dark with no light , is that because of where he was buried and they closed the round stone door on Jesus .
