“…and he sent them out to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them: ‘Take nothing for the journey—no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra shirt.’ ”

– Luke 9:2,3

Today I want to emphasize that God has amazing provision for you and I. That’s why Jesus tells His disciples in Luke Chapters 9 and 10: “Just go and don’t take anything with you.” And at the end, He says, “Were you ever in need?” And they said, “Never Lord, never.” As we live by faith, we can do bold things for God!

Hannah and I have a strong testimony of God’s provision. Some time ago, we saved $50,000 for our retirement over a span of 10 years. It was more money than we ever thought we could save. God called us to plant a church, and we did. When we established that church, the Lord told us to give away every bit of money that came into the church to the poor. We gave away every bit to anyone who was in need of rent or groceries. Meanwhile, we watched that $50,000 dwindle down to zero. But guess what? When we got to zero, we were never without. We still had a roof over our heads and God supplied everything when we needed it!

Friend, I learned that all I need is found in the Word of God. Provision is found in the word of the Lord! As you trust in it, He will deliver everything you need. The Holy Spirit is an ally. And what an ally He is. You trust your life to the Holy Spirit; You trust your life to Jesus. Life will go well for you when your best friend owns the cattle on a thousand hills. He will take care of you!

Prayer

Father, thank You for your continuous provision in my life. Show me how to trust my life to the Holy Spirit.

Reflection

What is your strong testimony of God’s provision? Do you see God’s provision in His Word?
