“The Lord will write in the register of the peoples: ‘This one was born in Zion.’ As they make music they will sing, ‘All my fountains are in you.’”
– Psalm 87:6,7
![]() Are you aware that you are the ruler of your own personal kingdom? Every human being has a sphere of influence or an area where their will and power are exerted in a way that influences those around them for better or worse, as weird as that may sound. I have a “Bobby-dom,” and I am the ruler of my realm without supernatural intervention. I will make decisions that favor me and give me more power; I am inherently self-serving. This, I believe, is why Jesus’ thesis — the most important thing He spoke about — was the Kingdom of God. When He arrived, He brought the principles and characteristics of Heaven to earth, providing a far superior alternative to my self-centered kingdom. Friend, becoming a happy and whole student of Jesus entails laying down your crown at the cross. You acknowledge that, while you have God-given strength, He is the source, and you acknowledge that He is the source of your wealth, as well as all your fountains! You will stop striving to prove yourself to the world and submit your kingdom to His when you declare Jesus to be your King. As you do so, you’ll find yourself walking in effortless grace rhythms that eliminate hustle and straining from your life. |
Prayer
Jesus, I lay my crown at the cross today and every day. I give you my life in exchange for you bringing your Kingdom to earth through me.
Reflection
Who is the ruler of your kingdom? Do you think Jesus is the source of all your fountains?
