“Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.”
-Psalm 71:18
If life in Christ goes on and on and on because of his death and resurrection, then this life sets the tone for how the rest of it is going to go.
How will your choices be changed? If the life that we are living today is eternal, everything is different because of the way we view time. And everything about time that was taught to us by Jesus is true because of his resurrection. It changes the way you view money. Money becomes about kingdom goodness. It changes suffering. It changes our relationships. Our relationships are eternal now. The way you treat people is going to stick with you for good or bad.
It changes aging. Aging isn’t this bad thing that we think it is in California. Many surgeons would be out of work if people started to believe this kind of a thing because aging would be about honor, maturity, wisdom, stories, leadership, and planting trees under whose shade you know you’ll never sit.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I don’t want to fear aging, though sometimes I do. My goal is not to fear death, and to be productive helping others through the end of my days on earth. Amen.
Reflection: What is your greatest hope for your old age?
