“Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out.”
– Proverbs 10:9
![]() Yesterday, we talked about “eating the frog,” or doing the things we are most afraid to do first in order to eliminate worry from our lives. Today, I want to share a second thing you can do to have a less stressful and less hurried life: live with integrity. You can’t be relaxed and be secretive and sneaky at the same time. Integrity is not about being perfect, it’s about being honest. People make mistakes; they fall down. What integrity means is that when that happens to you, you’re open and honest about it; you suffer the consequences and you do your best to reconcile with the person or people you offended. This is why the Bible says that the wicked will not enter the Lord’s rest. If you walk in wickedness, you’ll never relax, you’ll never have serenity and you’ll never have peace of mind. If you live in sin and wrongdoing, the only way to reclaim your peace is to walk in integrity. When you have nothing to hide, you sleep well at night and your whole being is more relaxed. A clean conscience is a soft pillow, so do your best to live transparently and enjoy the rest that results! |
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for providing me with an example of perfect integrity in your life. Teach me to be honest when I fail so that I can live in your peace and rest.
Reflection
Are you resting on the soft pillow of a clean conscience today? If not, what can you do to regain your peace?
