Here is a positive thought for today: There’s some really good news about fear, and about resistance—this cloudy, mysterious figure that resides in your heart and mind. The good news is that it’s pointing the way. If something is keeping you awake at night, if you’re tossing and turning over something you’re afraid of, that is a clue about where you’re supposed to go. You might find yourself asking, “Lord, what is my calling? Where should I go next?” And often, God will inspire a thought in your heart in the early hours of the morning. You might feel it’s too daunting, thinking you lack resources like money, experience, or education. But remember, these fears often point to where you’re meant to go.

There is something within you known as the will. It is your spirit—often referred to in scripture as the inner man or inner woman—that is reborn of God. This will embodies the desire to live, to achieve, to win, to succeed, and to overcome challenges. I can tell you that it is your greatest ally in any struggle. This spirit, this inner part of you, is a true friend that refuses to die or give up and will do whatever it takes to succeed!

Friend, there were times when I tossed and turned at night, ignoring the calls in my heart. Don’t let that happen to you! I realized I needed to act—like when I decided to marry Hannah Schuller at 21, or when we chose to have children, or when a book idea took hold. Now, I’m grateful for the things that keep me up at night! Guided by the Holy Spirit, I jot down my plans on a legal pad and declare, “In the morning, I begin.
