“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” -Matthew 6:33
I remember, as I was leading a worship service five or six years ago, I was wondering about my future. What was God calling me to do? Where did God want me to go? It became almost hard to sleep at night. I was crying to God, saying, “What would you have me do? I’m your servant. I want to do what you want me to do. Where should I go?”
I remember sitting down with Dr. Juan Carlos Ortiz, who was mentoring me at the time. I asked him, “Juan Carlos, what should I do?”
And Juan Carlos responded, saying, “Dear brother.” If you know Juan Carlos, this is how he talks. He said, “If you stay where you are, God will bless you because he loves you. But, my dear brother, if you leave where you are, God will bless you because he loves you.”
That was it. Those were some of the best words I ever heard, that no matter where I went, God loved me and was going to bless me as long as I did the next right thing.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you that, no matter where I go, you love me. And as long as I do the next right thing, you bless me. Amen.
REFLECTION: What is your next right thing to do?
