“Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
-Acts 4:30
The gift of miracles is God acting, through us, in heaven-sent ways deviating from natural orders and laws. God does this all the time. This is when a girl is hit by a bus but walks away unscathed. Or, the man who couldn’t walk and now he can walk.
God does miracles all the time and he does them through you. Have you ever noticed that, when people are miraculously healed in the Bible, how the apostles don’t really pray for them? They just heal them. Have you ever noticed that? They just say, “Rise up and walk. Let’s go.” There’s an authority there for people who heal and experience miracles.
My wife Hannah’s dad had one leg that was shorter than the other was. I remember when a man wanted to pray for him and right when he laid hands on him, before he started praying, you could see my father-in-law’s leg grow. It was a miracle.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for your miracles today! You show us your love and power in the natural world when you do the unnatural and we are healed. Amen.
Reflection: Describe a miracle you’ve received or one you’ve seen in another’s life.
