But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.

1 Corinthians 15:10

We apply our attitude about not being good enough for church to our relationship with God, as well. When we’re feeling holy and we feel like we’ve had a lot of good behavior, we approach God’s throne boldly, but when we mess up, we just think: Well I must not be a Christian because I mess up. You know that’s the thing. If you think anybody is super holy, you just don’t know them well enough; you just have to get to know people better. You’ll feel much better about yourself. You really will. We all mess up, but we are still God’s beloved.

Prayer

God, help me to remember that I am always good enough … because of you. I want to stay close to you, even when I don’t feel worthy of your grace.
