“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.”
– 1 Corinthians 15:10
We apply our attitude about not being good enough for church to our relationship with God, as well. When we’re feeling holy and we feel like we’ve had a lot of good behavior, we approach God’s throne boldly, but when we mess up, we just think: Well I must not be a Christian because I mess up. You know that’s the thing. If you think anybody is super holy, you just don’t know them well enough; you just have to get to know people better. You’ll feel much better about yourself. You really will. We all mess up, but we are still God’s beloved. |
Prayer
God, help me to remember that I am always good enough … because of you. I want to stay close to you, even when I don’t feel worthy of your grace.
Reflection
Have you ever found yourself drifting away from God and church when you don’t feel good enough?
