“Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear – not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No.’ Otherwise you will be condemned.”
-James 5:12
Jesus is omnipresent through those of us who believe. In other words, we put skin on God.
That doesn’t mean we’re God or that we’re perfect. We’re going to make all our same mistakes, right? We’re going to age, we’re going to sin, we’re going to mess up, and we’re going to trip and fall. Yet, still within us, alongside our spirit is the Holy Spirit that makes Jesus present everywhere we go.
Therefore, we always want God to break open the clouds and reveal himself to us. It may be by just saying, “Hello, I’m here.” Or, by revealing himself in our dreams. Or, maybe he’ll do the burning bush thing again; that seemed to work. We often think it would be so great if God did these incredible miracles, revealing himself to us in that way. But God has chosen a new way to reveal himself to the world.
God reveals himself to the world through you, but you have every choice in the world to say no or to say yes. Say yes today!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I say yes today! Please use me to do your work of love on earth. Amen.
Reflection: How has God used you as his ambassador on earth?
