“For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”
-Matthew 12:50

Did you know that churches that focus on the Holy Spirit tend to be the most diverse and most multi-ethnic churches? As a pastor, when you travel around, the more Holy Spirit oriented a church is, the more likely that church is going to be very culturally and ethnically diverse.

Why is that? Because the Holy Spirit melts away all the other stuff that separates us in our churches, our denominations. These “Holy Spirit people” look to one another and say, “Brother, sister, beloved, we’re family.”

You cannot be a Christian and live outside of God’s covenant family. This is one of the biggest mistakes that evangelical Christians like me have made. The Church is the bride of Christ and it will not be divided.

Prayer: Dear Lord, let me live each day seeped in the Holy Spirit. Help me to embrace the family of believers who are your beloveds, just as I am your beloved child. Amen.

Reflection: How do you embrace the Church, God’s family of believers?
