On Earth as it is in Heaven

“This, then, is how you should pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

– Matthew 6:9,10

I believe we should be hopeful people who proclaim and live the Kingdom of Heaven everywhere we go and not just as something we look forward to when we die. There’s a reason Jesus teaches us to pray the phrase “on earth as it is in Heaven.” How many times have you said those words but not really heard them? Have you considered what it means for all the goodness of Heaven to come to this world? On earth, in your city, in your church, on your job, in your family…as it is in Heaven. That’s what we’re supposed to pray. You give life to Jesus’ words when you pray with shameless audacity; you keep knocking, you keep believing and you never give up hope. You don’t fall into the trap of fear mongering or bitterness, and you never construct walls of anger. Instead, you boldly ask Jesus to bring the fullness of His Kingdom to this earth, starting with your own life!

Prayer

Jesus, I pray that you would bring the fullness of your Kingdom to this earth in and through me.

How can you prepare your heart to bring more of God’s Kingdom to earth through you?

  1. Spread joy, love and peace throughout this broken world. Help other people who are struggling who see by sight and show them how to see by faith.
