“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

– Luke 2:14

Christmas day is here and my heart’s prayer for you above all is peace. I don’t mean peace as in a lack of noise or activity because there may be a lot going on around you. I mean shalom — a deep and abiding sense of well-being — the kind that provides rest in the midst of chaos. I think Christmas is the perfect time to stop, breath deeply, and slow down. In fact, if you have a chance, spend a moment beholding the wonder of a world that has finally taken a break. Unlike any other day, malls and grocery stores have closed their doors and motion and movement are minimal. There’s something sacred about this stillness, and I pray it reminds you of the One who brings peace to your heart, even when the days aren’t as quiet.

If you’ve said yes to Jesus Christ, my friend, His favor rests on you, and it won’t stop flowing one day for the rest of your life. Even better, this favor begets peace, which is a priceless gift He gives to protect you and help you find your way in an increasingly uncertain and chaotic world. Savor the wonders of God’s rest today and glory in His unending mercies. Hold Him close in your heart and make Him the object of your adoration, for He is completely worthy! From my family to yours, I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for this day of peace. Help me to embrace and appreciate it.
