“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.”
– Isaiah 26:3,4
![]() I love that the Bible says to “cease striving.” Yet with the achievement-oriented mentality many of us have, we feel like this is possible only after we’ve overcome every obstacle, been healed from all our hangups, and finished whatever is on our to-do list. But the fact is that regardless of how much we’ve accomplished or how far we still have to go, we can know perfect peace now. No matter how much baggage we carry or how often we struggle with depression or anxiety, there is divine rest for us today when we trust in the Lord. Though it’s natural to worry, feel forgotten, or even question whether God is in control, the truth is that He will never leave us nor forsake us. In fact, He uses the darkest hours of our lives to show us just how deep and abiding His presence really is. While it can be challenging to trust the One who knows all and sees all, especially when we’re struggling, the beautiful thing about our Heavenly Father is that He is not surprised by our shortcomings, imperfections, or blind spots. He is a God who takes pleasure in being our fortress, shield, and banner, and He is ever willing to bring His perfect strength to the middle of our mess. My friend, your Savior delights in pouring divine peace into your heart, mind, and spirit. He never sleeps or slumbers, and He can handle the full weight of who you were, who you are, and who you are becoming. There is no wall too high or pit too deep for His gentle and loving hand to reach, and He is always willing to rescue you, no matter how hard you’ve tried to hide. Though you wrestle with uncertainty and are hard pressed on every side, Jesus loves you with an everlasting love. He is the Eternal Rock of ages, and He keeps His covenant of lovingkindness to a thousand generations. Regardless of how far off He feels, He is right there with you, cheering you on and beckoning you to embrace Him as your living hope. |
Prayer
Jesus, thank you for pouring out perfect peace in every season of my life.
Reflection
In what ways can you lean into the peace of God and trust Him fully, even in times of uncertainty?
