When I was in college, we would gather for chapel every day. As we would leave, we could see emblazoned on the chapel’s back wall these famous words from the university’s founder, Oral Roberts, that have been so useful for me in my life:

“If you have a need, plant a seed.”

The idea is that, for those of us who are suffering, one of the best and most faithful things we can do is to give to others out of a place of our own need. When we do that, we are releasing our gift of faith through giving to see what God will do.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I will give you my need, and then I’ll plant a seed of love in others’ lives through the love you give me today and always. Amen.
