I hope you’ve been following along over the past several days as I continue to emphasize a vital lesson: ask, and keep asking! Remember, repetition is the mother of learning—if you want to truly understand something, you must hear it again and again. In Luke 18, Jesus shared a parable to teach that we should always pray and never give up. He described a judge in a certain town who neither feared God nor cared what people thought—a truly difficult character. In that same town, there was a persistent widow who kept coming to him, pleading, “Grant me justice against my adversary.”

The story continues: “For some time, the judge refused. But finally, he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me.’ The meaning of “attack me” is debated by scholars—some suggest it means she might publicly shame him, while others think it’s simply a vivid way of describing her persistence. It’s a memorable line, as it’s hard to picture an elderly widow threatening a judge. Then the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says.”

Friend, Scripture promises, “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly.” Yet, Jesus ends with a searching question: “When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” Will He find faith in your church? In you, or among your people? In America, or in your country?
