Yesterday, I shared that when we place God first in our lives, it brings freedom and equips us to move forward with purpose. The issue, both then and now, isn’t that God is last. Israel never said they were done with God or that they were walking away from Him. That’s not the real problem. The real problem is when God is second. On the surface, that may not sound so bad—after all, if you have a hundred or even a thousand things on your list and God is in second place, that seems pretty high. It feels like good positioning, right?

But we believe that God must have the first place in our lives. We hold to the principle of seeking God above all else. Here’s why: placing God second causes us to chronically worry about whatever is in first place. This is a fundamental truth. If money is the top priority in your life and God is second, you’ll constantly worry about money. If your children are above God—even though it may sound odd—you’ll find yourself constantly anxious about them, micromanaging and smothering them to keep them safe. As a result, they may struggle to grow, becoming anxious and less capable themselves.

My friend, the true freedom we seek comes when God is at the center of everything we do. When He is our first priority, our anxieties lessen, our purpose becomes clearer, and we experience a peace that nothing else can provide. Let us commit to placing God above all else—knowing that in doing so, we invite real transformation and lasting freedom into our lives.
