“A third time the Lord called, ‘Samuel!’ And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, ‘Here I am; you called me.’ Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy.”
– 1 Samuel 3:8
![]() On Fridays, I often walk a one-mile circle that starts from an okay neighborhood to a decent neighborhood to a really nice neighborhood. Within the nice neighborhood, there are beautiful homes that are worth a lot of money. In the middle of all these gorgeous homes is a home with a giant antenna that sticks out like a sore thumb. I’m assuming that the neighbors, who are probably CEOs and wealthy people, aren’t too thrilled about this antenna. In technology, antennas transmit and receive signals and are used in televisions, radios, cell phones, and satellites. This home’s massive antenna reminded me that we all have spiritual antennas through which God communicates with us. The owner of this antenna knows that an antenna this size can tap into something that is broadcast over the airwaves. Think about this: When you’re sitting in church, hundreds, maybe thousands of radio waves are passing through it. In those radio waves, the sounds and images in high definition are being transmitted; they cannot be seen, heard, or felt, but they are there, communicating. The Kingdom of God is not far off from that. Most people don’t believe it but the spirit of God is always speaking, and you can catch it if you tune in. Friend, each of us has a spiritual antenna and the good news is it doesn’t have to be massive to reach God. God loves you and desires to share His love and His plans with you! Every day, God calls and speaks to us. Like Eli, maybe it takes time to discern God’s voice. Tuning into God’s voice and thoughts is possible with the help of the Holy Spirit. |
Prayer
Father, show me how to fine-tune my actions to hear your voice.
Reflection
Are you aware that God wants to share His thoughts with you? Do you know how to discern His voice?
