Over the past several days, I have shared the principles that will guide us as we build or rebuild our lives. I discussed the importance of planning, sowing seeds, and tending to the crops. As the increase occurs, remember to responsibly delegate tasks to your team. Eventually, the time will come when you can look upon the seeds you have sown, protected, and nurtured, and you will see a vast field of golden wheat ready for harvest. When harvest time arrives, there won’t be much time to gather, so go for it!

Here’s what Jesus said: “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.” What does that mean? Jesus perceives something that the disciples cannot see—a vast field of endless opportunities. In His context, He is referring to preaching the gospel and winning souls for Heaven. However, isn’t it true that in life generally, there is so much available to us that we often overlook? There are countless opportunities related to health, experiences, and meaningful conversations. Additionally, we have access to financial resources and, most importantly, the potential for eternal rewards that surrounds us. 

Friend, many of us fail to recognize these opportunities. Why is that? Because we are often too caught up in our everyday lives, like “city slickers.” Who can tell the difference between a field of grass and a field of wheat? And who knows when that wheat is ready to be harvested or needs more care? The answer, of course, is the farmer. As you plant and engage in the work, you gain the ability to recognize when the time is right. As a farmer, the Holy Spirit will help you discern when the harvest is ready!
