Receive the Spirit of God

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

– 2 Corinthians 3:17

Today, I want to talk about the real freedom that comes from experiencing the Spirit of God. This is not an abstract idea because there is a real bondage that we can feel without His Spirit. This bondage can take many forms: You grapple with your reputation, prestige, or the opinions of people. Perhaps your pride is in your looks, your money, or maybe it’s your position in an academic arena. What if you carry arrogance even in your position within a ministry? When those things become who you are rather than being a child of God, you become a “slave” to it.

Significant research has recently revealed some negative effects social media can have on people. Yes, it does have some redeeming qualities and can be viewed as a gift, but unfortunately, it’s also something that has the potential to enslave people.

When you receive the opposite of that type of subjection, which is the Spirit of God, you receive the Spirit of grace through Christ who was crucified and resurrected. When you carry the hope of Heaven in your heart and let go of your tight grip concerning the way people think about you, talk about you and see you — you get freedom!

Friend, when you receive the Spirit of the Lord, you’re free from having to prove yourself to others. You don’t have to prove yourself religiously, in the way you look, with your career, your money, or your achievements. You are treasured and loved by the Lord. You are free, my friend. You are free to be the person God created you to be. And to live a life doing your best and just forgetting the rest. Amen?

Prayer

Father, thank you for showing me how to receive your Spirit of grace. Help me to carry hope in my heart.

  1. Read the next line: 2 Corinthians 3:18 where it speaks of “unveiled” faces and God’s Glory… Faces not
covered, where a smile resides and shines forth…. A smile is Holy! Forced masking is evil. Stay FREE, not safe……!
