“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
– Matthew 11:28-30
![]() Today, I want to assure you that there is rest for your soul, especially since you may be feeling pressed down by the weight of this time. Before COVID-19 hit, most of us were already leading busy lives and finding it challenging to maintain our emotional and spiritual balance. However, now — with all the crazy news cycles, the intense fear that’s fighting for our minds, the constant barrage of new and conflicting information, and the routines that have been thrown off — we’ve assumed a mental load the likes of which we’ve never known. That said, if you’re fighting to stay positive and productive in this season, you’re not alone. We’re all dealing with new norms and grappling to understand something that isn’t easy to comprehend. Yet in the midst of everything we’re enduring, the truth remains that Jesus knows, and He cares. There is grace for us right now as we call out to Him and ask for rest. Though we may have tried numerous things to quiet our minds and gain back a semblance of normalcy, His presence is the only true answer. He invites us to come to Him — wherever we are or whatever we’re in the middle of — so He can quiet our racing thoughts, calm the chaos that surrounds us, and restore equilibrium to our lives. He is the anchor that always holds, and no matter how battered our ship feels or how high the waves crash that threaten to overtake us, He will never let us go. As we hold to His steady Hand and keep our eyes focused on the glory that is to come, He gives us peace that surpasses understanding and a respite that can’t be affected by any external circumstance. My friend, Jesus is relaxed. Though you feel weary and your journey has grown long, He is your unfailing Prince of Peace. He welcomes you to recharge your soul by stepping into His presence, handing Him your burdens, and allowing Him to robe you in His rest. He is available every hour of every day, and He will embrace you with perfect love as you look to Him to receive divine help. Nothing happening around you can move you away from His heart, for He is a friend who sticks closer than a brother and the only One who can relieve your troubles at any time of day. |
Prayer
Jesus, please give me rest. I need your help to keep journeying forward in this trying time.
