“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?.”
– Psalms 56:3,4
But as they turn, they see the most powerful army in the world coming after them through the parted sea. Fear grips them, and they cry out—not in faith, but in fear—to Moses: Why did you bring us out here? They are going to kill us. Did you bring us here just to be slaughtered? In response, Moses says, “Do not be afraid. Stand still.” As they remained still, the waters came crashing down, destroying their enemies. My friend, with the enemy destroyed before their eyes, their faith becomes sight. The phrase “The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still” can also mean “you need only be silent”—allowing God to do the work. While God is taking action, don’t undermine it by speaking words of fear, doubt, or focusing on what you see in the natural instead of what you read in the Word. The Lord will fight for you, be still, and rest in God’s Word! |
Prayer
Father, teach me to find genuine rest by trusting Your Word, even in the midst of life’s battles.
Reflection
Have you discovered the peace that comes from being still and letting God fight your battles?
