“Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.”
– 2 Timothy 2:23,24
As you grow into unstoppable dreamers, I’ve shared that you can rise above ridicule and mockery. You can become God-centered rather than focused on pleasing others. Another quality I’ve observed in unstoppable dreamers is their ability to rise above pettiness. This is a personal challenge for me, Bobby Schuller, as I struggle with this issue quite a bit. It’s amazing how strong, intelligent people can sometimes become so petty. We can be petty with those we love, our coworkers, or even our siblings.
How many of you, when you were kids, had a brother or sister and sat in the back seat of your parent’s car with a line drawn on the cushion? “This is my side, that’s your side,” and then one of you would always try to push over the line with a finger. We know this is petty and silly, but, of course, we still do it even in adulthood. We often blow things out of proportion, making mountains out of molehills. This usually stems from a desire for respect or a fear that small issues will lead to bigger problems. Sometimes, it’s just because we’re in a bad mood or need to eat. Regardless, turning petty issues into major conflicts can damage relationships. Remember, these issues only matter if you let them. Friend, here’s the point: If you’re doing great things for God, you don’t have time or energy for trivial matters. Can I get an amen? You truly have more important things to focus on and accomplish. In God’s eyes, people matter more than these petty situations. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you stay focused on your dreams and rise above the distractions of pettiness. |
Prayer
Father, please help me focus on pursuing my dreams and rise up over trivial matters.
Reflection
Do you choose to prioritize people over trivial matters?

Thank you so much Pastor Bobby for always sharing encouraging positive thoughts and life lessons with me!!
It also helps to remind ourselves, that we or the other person might be overwhelmed and overreacting to stressful situations — I’m autistic and that means I get easily overwhelmed when stressed!
In addition we don’t always know what someone else might be going through or why they’re reacting in seemingly petty ways …
A good reminder for everyone. Thanks
Pastor Bobby asked, “ Can I get an amen? ”
