“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.”
– Proverbs 18:10
In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Susan, one of the main characters, is about to meet Aslan, the great king. She has heard much about him, but is surprised to learn that Aslan is a lion. When Mr. Beaver tells her, “Aslan is a lion—the great Lion,” Susan responds, “I thought he was a man. Is he quite safe? I should feel rather nervous about meeting a lion.” Mr. Beaver replies, “Safe? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.” In the same way, God isn’t safe in the sense of being predictable or tame—but He is always good, and He is on your side. My friend, what isn’t safe around the Lion of Judah, the King of Glory? The answer: all the darkness and evil in your life. Fear, lack, sickness—none of these can stand in the presence of Jehovah Rapha, the healer. Confusion and despair scatter when the Lord draws near. If you have faith, God has the power. Believe today that God is safe and actively working in your life to set you free from anything that holds you back. Step forward in confidence, knowing God is for you. |
Prayer
Father, thank You that You are our refuge and our strength—the Lion of Judah, the King of Glory!
