“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” -Ephesians 2:10
Many of us have this nagging feeling of scarcity; we don’t have enough. When you go to bed and you’re setting your alarm clock, you do the sleep math? You tell yourself, “Okay. I’m getting up at 7:00 am, it’s 11:36; I’m getting seven hours and 24 minutes of sleep. That’s almost 8, it’s not quite 8, but it’s almost.” On those days when we begin with “I don’t have enough sleep” — we’re already losing. We’re already beginning our day from a mindset of insufficiency: of always being behind, of never catching up to where we think we should be. Our day becomes filled with thoughts of insufficiency, lack, and having blessings — but not quite enough of them. But you have enough — you are enough — God is building in your mind right now. He is moving you from a place and mindset of insufficiency to a place of sufficiency, a place of scarcity to a place of fullness, joy, and especially, gratitude.
PRAYER: Thank you, God, for giving us enough. Help us to remember that we are enough and we have enough even when we feel insufficient.
REFLECTION: Do you feel insufficient today? Or do you feel grateful?
