“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” -Hebrews 4:12
As a special treat, today’s Positive Minute will be coming from my beautiful wife, Hannah. I had the pleasure of interviewing her recently, which you can watch here to learn more about her story.
Do you ever just feel like a mess? I know we’re supposed to constantly appear “put together” but I often just feel like a mess. But, we’re God’s beautiful messes, so we just have to pick ourselves up and keep going. These are times when I turn to Scripture because it is powerful. Rest in God’s Word and let it renew your strength, even when you feel like you’re falling apart. I turn to Scripture when I need to refresh my mind. There’s a reason the Bible says the word of God is living, active, and mightier than a double-edged sword. I’m not always strong, but God calls us to be fighters, to fight his spiritual battles. You can find your armor in Scripture. Hang it on your wall: in your kitchen, on the mirror in your bathroom, or on your desk. Let God’s Word remind you of the strength and power you have in him. Romans 12:1-2 tells us to “Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” When you speak Scripture over yourself, your family or your friends, you are speaking God’s power and his promises over them. You are powerful in him, and you can make a difference in your life and in the 15 feet of space around you.
PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for your powerful words. Thank you for providing a book for us which we can turn to for wisdom, guidance, and encouragement. Please let me live out your powerful words.
REFLECTION: Do you have some favorite verses or pieces of scripture? Put them on your wall! Write them down and put them somewhere you’ll be reminded throughout the day that God is for you.
