See Your Real Reflection

“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

– 1 Corinthians 13:11,12

There are many opportunities in front of you in this new year! However, one of the most important questions you can ask is, “What am I called to do? How should I proceed with what I have been given?” And “What does the future hold for me?” Only God is able to answer these questions, and when you embrace Him and ask for His guidance and advice, you will be able to discover the answers that He has for you.

I recently read the story of the Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen. In this parable, a swan is unknowingly born among ducks. He suffers verbal and physical abuse because he is not with his flock or tribe. Due to his looks, he is misunderstood because he is gray, large and ugly compared to ducks. After one winter, he encounters swans on a lake, and when he sees his reflection in the water, he knows he has found his family!

Friend, when you immerse yourself into the community of God, when you put yourself in Christ’s arms, there may be fear that accompanies this action. But you are actually positioning yourself to see your true reflection. The Lord desires you to see who you are meant to be, what you are called to do, and what tasks are being set in front of you. Don’t be afraid to embrace every aspect of what the Lord has for you!

Father, I need your help to embrace what you’ve called me to do.

Have you asked God what His calling for you is? What is the status of your assignment?
