“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” -Matthew 7: 7-8

“Ask and you’ll receive. Seek and you will find. Knock and the door will be opened.” If you seek after the Lord, you’ll find him. You’ll find him and you’ll find more than you ever thought you would find: eternal life and living water. God manifests his life in two opposite ways that actually harmonize: solitude and community. All of us have props that we utilize to fill the restlessness in our hearts. For some, it’s having fun, video games, errands, work, drinking, or busyness. What would happen if you were stripped of all of those things? For many of us, this feels and sounds like a nightmare, but truth is, if you were stripped of your distractions you could realize that you’re loved by God. You’d find that you don’t need those things, and you’d find that even when you thought you were alone, you weren’t. God was with you the whole time.

PRAYER: Thank you, God, for always being with me. Help me slow down and spend some time alone with you.

REFLECTION:
Do you think it would be easy to strip yourself from your props? Try it.
