“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”

– Matthew 13:44

Yesterday, we talked about the fact that God is sufficient in our finances. However, today I want to share with you that even having stable finances doesn’t promise an abundant and fear-free life — that is something that can only be attained when we let Jesus into our hearts and have faith in Him.

I remember reading a story told by Simon Sinek, who’s a leadership author and speaker. He shared that he was sitting in a room with 150 of the world’s most successful leaders and business people and there was a speaker, although he didn’t say who it was. As the speaker began to address the crowd, he asked two questions — the first one was, “Have you reached your financial goals?” At that inquiry, nearly every hand in the room went up, but the second question was a different story. When the speaker asked, “How many of you feel successful?” – nearly every hand in the room went down. Isn’t that crazy? Even amongst the brightest and most accomplished people on the planet, there was still a sense of void and lacking. To me, that’s the perfect example of an unsatiated life.

Friend, I urge you to stop trying to fulfill your life by pursuing the things of this world. I promise, no matter how hard you strive and how much ground you gain, you will still feel empty. The only hope for true contentment in this life is the Kingdom of God, and it is available to you right now! In essence, the Kingdom is the reign of God and the range of His effective will on earth. When you live in that very real, yet unseen spiritual place, your scarcity, insufficiency, and lack begin to diminish, if not go away entirely. You must embrace the fullness of who He is! You don’t have to do or achieve it all because He already has; simply share in His abundance and you will be changed! Isn’t that fantastic news?

Prayer

Jesus, thank you for giving me a full and abundant life in your Kingdom and for setting me free from the pressure of being satiated by things of the world.

Reflection

Are you living in the reality of God’s Kingdom today? If not, how can you start sharing in His abundance?
