“But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.“

– Romans 7:6

It is purposeful to be full of the Holy Spirit in order to serve in the new way, to make a difference, and make an impact on others. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit descends, and there’s this amazing experience in Acts chapter 2 where a large crowd speaks in tongues. There is an unusual phenomenon in which these flaming tongues of Heaven appear on people. Every disciple starts speaking the language of the tourists that are in town and proclaiming the Gospel to them. A fiery tongue today would be as if I just started preaching the Gospel in Spanish, German, Mandarin, or Arabic, perfectly without an accent. It is a miracle of the Holy Spirit that He allowed everyone to understand the Gospel in their own language in order to bring them together.

In addition, the Holy Spirit gives us a conscience, a compass, a power, a desire, a sensitivity to understand pain, and the ability to connect with lonely people who are hurting. In those moments when everyone else is in a hurry and moves on by, the Holy Spirit alerts you that someone needs you; listen to that tug. Even if you are afraid, or especially if you are afraid, yield to the Holy Spirit’s pull or nudge. Move towards that person and trust that God will give you the strength to meet their needs.

Friend, the more you serve in the spirit, the greater your power. Today, God is encouraging you to become a greater servant which leads to becoming a great person and being a world changer. With the help of the Holy Spirit we can serve in the new way!

Prayer

Father, help me to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s prompting.
